The First-Stage “JMD Cup” Evaluation and Exchange Program of the Printing Associations of Nine Northern Provinces and Municipalities Successfully Held in Weihai

To further identify outstanding role models across the printing industry, promote the spirit of craftsmanship, drive continuous improvements in quality and efficiency, and foster coordinated development, experience sharing, and mutual learning among printing industries across multiple regions, the first-stage (Weihai) “JMD Cup” Evaluation and Exchange Event, organized by the Printing Associations of Nine Northern Provinces and Municipalities, was successfully held in Weihai, Shandong Province, on June 26–27The event was hosted by the Beijing Printing Association, organized by the Shandong Printing Association, and strongly supported by the Weihai Printing & Packaging Association. The program focused on the selection and evaluation of Outstanding Production Lines, Outstanding Lead Operators, and Outstanding Enterprises, providing an important platform for promoting excellence and advancing the high-quality development of the printing industry.

Chairman Zhang Yi of the Beijing Printing Association and Executive Chairman Wang Changchun of the Shandong Printing Association provided overall guidance and coordination for every aspect of the event. Li Baozhong, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the Shandong Printing Association, together with association leaders and industry experts from the printing associations of the nine northern provinces and municipalities, participated in the evaluation process. Through the concerted efforts of all participating organizations, the event was conducted to high standards in a standardized, well-organized, and orderly manner, ensuring the professionalism and integrity of the evaluation.

The evaluation strictly adhered to the principles of fairness, impartiality, and transparency. A joint cross-regional evaluation panel, consisting of representatives from the printing associations of the nine northern provinces and municipalities together with professional technical experts, was established to conduct the assessment.

Keeping pace with the printing industry's development toward intelligent manufacturing, green production, and high-quality development, the evaluation panel carried out comprehensive and professional assessments focusing on the effectiveness of intelligent equipment applications, the practical operating skills of front-line craftsmen, and the overall operational performance and development capabilities of participating enterprises. Based on these assessments, outstanding industry benchmarks were selected.

The event focused on several key priorities, including the wider adoption of China-developed post-press equipment, the cultivation of highly skilled professionals, and the demonstration of exemplary enterprises. It also showcased the advanced technological advantages of China's intelligent binding equipment, highlighted the dedication and craftsmanship demonstrated by front-line printing professionals, and established a high-level platform for mutual learning, experience exchange, resource sharing, and collaborative development among the printing industries of the nine northern provinces and municipalities.

The successful completion of the Weihai stage of the evaluation resulted in the identification of a number of outstanding industry models that are both replicable and widely applicable. It further demonstrated the important supporting role of China-developed post-press equipment in driving the transformation and upgrading of the printing industry, while also providing valuable practical experience for strengthening cross-regional cooperation and promoting coordinated development throughout the industry.

The event will continue to guide the industry in expanding the application of China-developed intelligent equipment, strengthening the foundation for cultivating highly skilled professionals, and supporting the high-quality and self-reliant development of the entire printing industry value chain.

Following the event, the organizing committee also conducted overall planning and coordination for the draft proposal of the second-stage on-site competition and awards ceremony. The second-stage event is tentatively scheduled to take place in Tai'an this September.
